Principal's Message

Hello Tukwila Elementary Families,

Happy Summer! While there are still a few sunny days left to enjoy, we are excited to begin preparing
for another wonderful school year. To help you plan ahead, here are a few key dates and details:

• School Supply List: Sent via TalkingPoints, or accessible on our website at tukwila.tukwilaschools.org
• All-School Open House (K–5): Thursday, August 27 @ 5:00–6:00 pm
• First Day of School: Wednesday, September 2nd
• Labor Day (No School): Monday, September 7th

We are incredibly proud of our Tiger Scholars for finishing last school year on such a high note. Our
students showed remarkable growth on our i-Ready assessments, achieving 109% of our typical
growth target in math and 125% in reading, while consistently meeting our schoolwide behavior
goals all year long. Ending on such a strong foundation allows us to step into this new school year with
great momentum and positivity.Building on these successes, our key priorities for the 2026–2027 school
year center on strengthening math achievement, deepening family partnerships, and nurturing our
students into exceptional citizens.

Academically, our primary focus will be elevating our math instruction. Using our i-Ready curriculum,
we want to challenge our students to push for new heights in critical thinking, mathematical analysis,
and problem-solving. Time and again, our Tiger Scholars have proven that they are ready to exceed
every goal set before them. We also know that strong family partnerships are our greatest strength.
Staying connected with teachers and talking with your students about their daily learning makes all
the difference.

As Tukwila Tiger educators, we know true success goes beyond academics. Guided by our PBIS core
values—Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe—and our commitment to equity and inclusion, we
intentionally cultivate a safe, culturally responsive environment where character traits like honesty,
cooperation, and empathy thrive.

As "The Best and The Brightest," our strength comes from our rich diversity, shared wisdom, and high
expectations. Supported by equity-driven staff and robust systems for both teachers and students, our
mission is to ensure every Tiger Scholar is seen, supported, and set up for complete academic and
social-emotional success.
