PTA Parent Involvement
Research shows that students do better when their families are involved both at home and at school. Grades are higher. Test scores rise. Self-esteem grows. Schools improve.
Joining PTA is one way for your family to get involved at Tukwila Elementary!
PTA (Parent Teacher Association) is an active group of parents, staff, and community members working together for the benefit of every student at Tukwila Elementary.
PTA members sponsor a variety of community-building events for students throughout the year, including our Back to School Picnic, Masquerade Dance, Talent Show, Special Persons Day, Field Day, and Spring Carnival. PTA members organize fundraisers such as our Fall Triathlon, Box Tops Drives, and Family Bingo Night, using all profits to fund field trips for every student in the school.
Joining the PTA gives you the opportunity to build relationships with other parents, keep up with what’s happening in our school, participate in decision-making regarding school events and activities, and show your child that you are invested in their education.
When you become a member of PTA, you can choose a level of involvement to fit your family’s schedule and your individual interests. By volunteering a single hour of time, whether it is reading to students in the classroom or setting up for our Spring Carnival, you are making a difference in the lives of children. No matter what skills you have to offer or how much time you have available, the PTA has a place for you. Let us know what you’d like to do and we can get you plugged in.
To join, pick up a membership envelope in the front office and return it to school with your student, or contact PTA President Tracy Russell at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
