Please welcome new assistant principal Carla Carrizosa! She will be a wonderful addition to our school community.
Ms. Carrizosa has more than 20 years’ experience in the educational field. Most recently, Ms. Carrizosa served as dean of students in the Auburn School District, where she was the ASB lead and co-coordinator of Title I funds. She led development of the school-wide achievement plan and trained staff in innovative best teaching practices, such as professional development on increasing student engagement and academic achievement using brain-based strategies.
Ms. Carrizosa graduated from University of Washington’s Danforth Leadership program. She is a National Board Certified teacher with an extensive background as an ELL (English Language Learner) specialist and coach. She is an expert trainer in GLAD (Guided Language Acquisition Design) methods as well as a state-certified Spanish interpreter and translator. She is focused on strong school-home collaboration, with a background of organizing events and opportunities for all families, especially those who are diverse and/or often unengaged in school activities.
